Steps to Apply for Background Verification of GEP. - Passport
Online form Submission Abroad (If the applicant is NOT presently living in India)
Step 1 |
Register through the Global Passport Seva Online Portal (www.embassy.passportindia.gov.in) (Choose your country of residence and click on "Register" link on the Home Page. In case your country of residence is not visible in the Global Passport Seva Online Portal, you will have to apply for background check in India i.e. follow Online Form Submission India process. ) |
Step 2 |
Login to the Global Passport Seva Online Portal with the Login ID created in Step 1. |
Step 3 |
Click "Apply for Background Verification for GEP" link. |
Step 4 |
Fill in the required details in the application form and submit. |
Step 5 |
Click the "Print Application Form" link to print the application details containing Application Reference Number (ARN) and other details. |
Step 6 |
Check the Indian Embassy/Consulate website to know about the overall background check application submission process for Global Entry Program (GEP). Visit the Embassy/Consulate office or Outsourced Service Provider (OSP) (as per the application submission process of Embassy/Consulate), along with the applicable fee of USD 25 and required original documents. |
Online Form Submission ( Applicant presently living in India )
Step 1 |
Register through the Passport Seva Online Portal. (Click on "Register Now" link on the Home Page). |
Step 2 |
Login to the Passport Seva Online Portal with the Login ID created in Step 1. |
Step 3 |
Click "Apply for Background Verification for GEP" link. |
Step 4 |
Fill in the required details in the form and submit. |
Step 5 |
Click the "Pay and
Schedule Appointment" link on the "View Saved/Submitted
Applications" screen to schedule an appointment. Credit/Debit Card (MasterCard and Visa) Internet Banking (State Bank of India (SBI) and Other Banks) UPI Payment |
Step 6 |
Click the "Print
Application Receipt" link to print the application receipt
containing Application Reference Number (ARN)/Appointment Number. |
Step 7 |
Visit the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK)/Regional Passport Office (RPO) where appointment has been booked, along with original documents. |
Note:
Only emergency/medical cases and preapproved categories may visit Passport Seva Kendra without appointment. Service will be provided at the discretion of Passport Seva Kendra in-charge/Passport Officer.
In case of minor applicants (below 4 years of age), carry the recent passport size photograph (4.5 X 3.5 cm) with white background.
Resubmission of application form is required, in case the applicant does not visit the Passport Seva Kendra within 90 days from the online form submission.
Information regarding status of verification carried out by Indian authorities and communicated to US CBP authorities will NOT be disclosed to the applicants or the general public under Section 8(1)(a), (f) & (j) of the RTI Act, 2005, as this information is being collected on behalf of the US Government, under a bilateral agreement.
